    1. Cassandra’s design is based on the Dynamo (Amazon) and Bigtable (Google) papers, Big Data Projects for Final Year prioritizing availability and partition tolerance (AP in the CAP theorem).

      Masterless Design: Unlike traditional master-slave setups, every node in a Cassandra cluster is identical. Any node can handle any request, eliminating single points of failure.

      The Gossip Protocol: Nodes communicate with each other using "Gossip" to share state information, ensuring the cluster remains aware of node health and topology.

      Consistent Hashing: Data is distributed across a "Ring" of nodes. A Partition Key is hashed to determine exactly which node (and its replicas) should store a specific row. Data Science Projects for Final Year

      LSM-Tree Storage Engine: Cassandra uses a Log-Structured Merge Tree. Writes are appended to a Commit Log (for durability) and a Memtable (in-memory). When the Memtable is full, it is flushed to disk as an immutable SSTable.
